My Favorite Places to Buy Vintage & Antiques Online

Back in the early days of the internet, when ebay first came out, I quickly created an account and started buying vintage items and antiques online. Years later, I’ve greatly expanded my list of sources for online vintage and antique shopping. While I love the convenience of buying vintage and antique online, I must admit that nothing beats the thrill of sorting through my favorite shops in person. The sweet musty smell, the dusty, creaking wooden floors, the racks of vintage clothing and boxes of vintage to sift through—- nothing can top that! But when I can’t get out in person, here are my go-to places for buying everything vintage and antique online.

  1. RubyLane.com
Ruby Lane is the online version of that beautifully curated, well organized, antique and vintage shop in your town. When you walk in, you just know you’re going to find something good. Ruby Lane is home to very experienced merchants, many of whom have brick and mortar shops somewhere in the world. It is a place I would trust if I were shopping specifically for something like porcelain, art, glass, silver, jewelry or dolls. This is my first stop when I am looking for a timeless, quality wedding gift, or where I look for a specific jewelry hint for my husband. My husband Kells has sourced some beautiful Christmas and birthday gifts for me here (with some gentle coaching on my part) from turquoise estate earrings to a beautiful gold Art Nouveau brooch.
  1. EstateSales.net
If you follow my blog, you know I love frequenting estate sales for unique antique and vintage treasures. Many estate sales are now held fully online, so you can view and bid online just like an auction. I get a daily alert from estatesales.net for sales in my area, and I even set up an alert for estate sales in my hometown, where my lovely Mother volunteers as my curbside pick-up person. Since many sales are online, I search both local, regional and national sales. If the sale is local but online, I can bid online and typically pick up the item in person to avoid shipping costs. If the sale is far away, most companies are willing to ship. This is a great source for good deals as lots of great items in these online estate sales never end up receiving a bid.
  1. Instagram
If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, please do!) @letsbevintagefriends, you know that I find beautiful things from Instagram vintage sellers from all over the world. Vintage and antique dealers on instagram often specialize in one particular area like vintage jewelry, children’s and baby clothing, or vintage fashion. Some sellers accept payment directly through PayPal, while others use Etsy or eBay platforms to complete purchases.

Someday I would like to be in the business of selling vintage and antique treasures, but for right now, I’m too busy buying!
